This work is being held in a private collection.
36 × 48 Mixed Media Oil on Gallery wrapped canvas.
This painting is about becoming.
About the freedom that comes with age, the freedom to let go of expectations, to stop trying to be who we think we should be and to simple become ourselves.
There is a point when we can put the armour down. When we no longer need to be so guarded. We can soften. We can allow ourselves to be vulnerable, open and present.
The flowing hair represents freedom. It is movement and release. It is the feeling of no longer being so contained.
The relationship in the painting speaks to the kind of connection where nothing has to be proved. Where there is trust, presence and acceptance. We can simple show up as we are.
She carries the feeling of softening, opening and finally being free to be herself...
As she is.
